A seven-year-old madrasa student was killed after being run over by a tractor carrying soil in Nalitabari upazila of Sherpur. The deceased student is Md. Kausar, son of Md. Zakir Hossain of Gobinda Nagar Charani area of the upazila. The incident took place in the Charani area of Gobinda Nagar at around 1:30 pm on Tuesday (February 11).
Locals said that no one was at the scene of the incident. The sound was heard while the people were praying in the mosque. After finishing the prayers, they came out of the mosque and saw the tractor standing in the middle of the road and if you look under the rear wheels, you can see the child's crushed body and blood. Seeing this, everyone in the area got angry and vandalized the soil-laden tractor.
The driver of the car could not be found at the scene. Locals believe that the driver fled immediately after the incident. Nalitabari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sohel Rana said that police were sent to the scene after receiving information that a child was killed by a tractor. The tractor has been seized. Action will be taken after receiving a complaint and an investigation will be conducted.
