A Dawi Awami League leader has been arrested in Madhukhali, Faridpur, as part of the law enforcement agency's special operation "Operation Devil Hunt" to combat terrorism. They were detained in a raid in Dumain and Kamarkhali unions of the upazila on the night of February 10.
The arrested are Shakir Ahmed Tokon (58), son of the late Bazlur Rahman Molla of Nishchintapur village of Dumain Union and General Secretary of Dumain Union Awami League, and Ashek Md. Tarek alias Shanto (45), son of Khandaker Omar Faruk of Kamarkhali village of Kamarkhali Union, Awami League member of Kamarkhali Union. They are accused in the case of attack on students and the public. Case No. 04 is dated 8 October 2024. The arrested were sent to the Faridpur learned court on the morning of 11 February.
In this regard, Madhukhali Police Station Officer-in-Charge SM Nuruzzaman said that they were arrested in a joint force operation and sent to court in a case of attack on student and public leaders on August 5, 2024.
