A child named Nahid Mia died after drowning in water while visiting various houses in Shantiganj, Sunamganj.
A one-and-a-half-year-old child died after drowning in a pond near Nana's house in Joykalas village of Shantiganj on Monday afternoon.
Nahid is the child of Farhad Mia of Joykals village in Shantiganj.
Mochku Mia, UP member of Ward No. 4 of Joykals Union in Shantiganj, confirmed the death of the child.
According to family sources of the deceased child, Nahid fell into the water of a pond while he was playing in the courtyards of various houses in Joykals village of the upazila, far from the rest of the family.
Neighbors and relatives later pulled the child out of the water while he was floating.
When he was rushed to Sunamganj Sadar Hospital, the doctor on duty there declared the child dead.
