Police have arrested five people in Operation Davy Hunt in Bauphal upazila of Patuakhali. The arrested are former activists and supporters of the Awami League, Swechchhasebak League, and the banned Chhatra League. They were arrested from different areas of Bauphal upazila in a drive conducted overnight on Sunday.
Baufal Police Station OC Kamal Hossain said that the arrested are: former Chhatra League leader of Baufal Municipality Riaz Howlader (38), former Chhatra League leader of Kalishuri Sohag Mridha (30), Swechchhasebak League leader Md. Bazlu Sikder (50), former Chhatra League leader of Nurainpur of Suryamoni Union Zahirul Islam (35), Awami League activist of Nazirpur Tanterkathi Union A. Salam (52). They were presented before the court on Monday after being arrested in an explosives case.
