As part of Operation Davit Hunt, law enforcement agencies have arrested Kazi Obaidul Quader Helal (52), Joint General Secretary of Nabiganj Upazila Awami League in Habiganj, and Shah Rezauddin Ahmed Duldul (52), Joint General Secretary of Lakhai Upazila Awami League. They were arrested in a raid in Kalyanpur area of Kurshi Union in Nabiganj Upazila on Saturday midnight.
Obaidul Quader Helal (52) is the son of Kazi Razzak Mia of Kalyanpur village in Kurshi union of the upazila. He is the joint general secretary of Nabiganj upazila Awami League. Police said that they raided his house after receiving a tip-off and arrested Helal. On August 4, Awami League leaders and activists attacked the student-public movement against discrimination in Tinkona Pukurpar area of Habiganj. Mushahid of Alampur in Subidpur union of Baniachong filed a case in this incident.
On the other hand, on Saturday night, based on a secret tip-off, Sadar Thana Police and Lakhai Thana Police conducted a raid in Lakhai Bazar and arrested Shah Reza Uddin Ahmed Duldul, the joint general secretary of the Upazila Awami League. He is the son of Abdul Mannan of Katiyara village in Lakhai upazila. At the same time, Jamal Hossain, the personal assistant (PA) of former Awami League member of parliament (MP) of Habiganj-2 constituency Moyez Uddin Sharif Ruel, was arrested from Kalibari area of Habiganj town. A case was filed against 150 people on charges of attacking the anti-discrimination student movement in the city on July 18. Jamal has been arrested in that case.
