274 people have been arrested in the Metropolitan Police Area and 1,034 in various districts of the Range Police. The highest number of arrests have been made from Gazipur. 82 people have been arrested from different areas of the metropolis, including 46 from five police stations of Gazipur District Police. According to information received till yesterday afternoon, many of those arrested are leaders and activists of different levels of the Awami League. Among the arrested are dagi and absconding accused and identified terrorists.
Sources in the Home Ministry and law enforcement agencies said that a group is desperate to destabilize the entire country.
