Police have arrested Md. Raja (32), alias Tapenta Raja, a known drug dealer from Saidpur, Nilphamari. 45 pieces of Tapentadol tablets were recovered from him during the operation. Raja is the son of Md. Akhtar of Kalim More area of Notun Babupara, Saidpur Municipality.
He was arrested from Saidpur Plaza Supermarket on Saturday evening (February 8). A case was filed against him that night and he was sent to Nilphamari Jail by the court on Sunday afternoon (February 9).
Police said that on Saturday evening, they received a tip-off that drugs were being sold on the second floor of Syedpur Plaza. Based on the tip-off, a police team led by Police Station Officer-in-Charge Faim Uddin, including SI Aminul Islam, Jayanta Chandra Roy, Akmal Hossain, and Sohrab Hossain, conducted a raid in the area.
Sensing the presence of the police, Raja tried to flee, but the police chased him and arrested him. During this time, 45 pieces of banned Tapentadol tablets were recovered from him. Later, in the presence of local people, he confessed to the police that he had been dealing drugs for a long time.
After a case was filed against him in the incident at night, the Syedpur police sent him to court on Sunday afternoon. The court did not grant him bail and ordered him to be sent to Nilphamari Jail.
Faim Uddin, officer-in-charge of Syedpur Police Station, confirmed the recovery of drugs and the arrest of drug dealer Raja. Stating that there is no compromise with drugs, he said that the anti-drug campaign will continue. (Photo)
