Maruf Sarkar, Reporter: Some recommendations to make the registration process easier and more acceptable by repealing the current undemocratic, unpolitical and unconstitutional law governing the registration process of political parties by the Bangladesh Peace Party.
1. The current Political Party Registration Rules, 2008 are undemocratic, unpolitical, unconstitutional, without consideration and reality, and unacceptable.
2. According to the Bangladesh Peace Party, all the laws that have been passed, including the 2008 law that abolished the long-standing rule of political parties participating in politics and national elections without registration, including the formation of at least 1/3 (one third) administrative district and 100 upazila executive committees, are oppressive, regressive, anti-democratic and black laws. We have come to know that this undemocratic law was created by a former election commissioner on his own initiative based on his own imagination. Due to which registration and other political crises have arisen in the country today. It is worth noting that he has boasted on various television talk shows that he has created this registration law. However, he has no prior experience and skills in political or civil administration and no political party has taken any opinion on this matter.
3. In this situation, the Bangladesh Peace Party makes the following written recommendations regarding the registration of political parties. The recommendations are as follows:-
A. A central committee of a political party.
B. A party constitution.
C. A central office.
4. An affidavit by the party chairman regarding the intention to register the party through a notary public.
E. Bank draft of 5,000/- (five thousand) taka towards the registration application fee and
F. In the case of an independent candidate, the opportunity to contest the election through the recommendation of only 01 voter is provided.
The Bangladesh Peace Party strongly recommends and requests the re-enactment of the political party registration rules with the 5 (five) conditions mentioned above.
