Gazipur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Nazmul Karim Khan has announced the withdrawal of the officer-in-charge (OC) of Sadar Police Station for negligence in his duties in the attack on leaders and activists of the anti-discrimination student movement in Gazipur and has apologized for the attack.
Police Commissioner Nazmul Karim Khan said this while attending a protest program of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement on Rajbari Road in front of the Gazipur District Commissioner's office on Saturday (February 8) afternoon. Earlier in the afternoon, the leaders and activists of the organization started the protest by blocking Rajbari Road in protest of the attack on their leaders and activists.
He said, "On behalf of the police force, I apologize for the incident that happened last night. I admit my failure. No attacker will be spared, every attack will be responded to. I will take action against all the police who were slow to respond."
Nazmul Karim Khan said, "I heard that my OC responded to your call after two hours. I stood here and said, I will suspend him. I want to say, those who have conspired with this fascism should not be allowed to serve in the police."
The Police Commissioner further said, those who have oppressed and oppressed the country for the past 17 years are raising their heads. But no raising of their heads will be tolerated. 16 people have already been arrested. A combing operation will be conducted tonight. All those involved in the incident will be brought under the law. A decision has already been taken by the Home Ministry. 'Operation Devil Hunt' will be conducted to suppress Awami fascism.
During the Police Commissioner's speech, leaders and activists of the organization, including Hasnat Abdullah, convener of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, Sarjis Alam, chief organizer of the National Citizens Committee and central coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, were present.
