Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has issued a stern warning to the United States, saying that Iran will respond if the United States takes any action or threatens to do so, NDTV reported.
Khamenei had previously said that any kind of negotiation with the United States would not be wise or honorable.
"They make statements, opinions and threats against us. If they threaten us, we will threaten them. If they attack the security of our nation, we will strike without any hesitation," Khamenei said in a meeting with the country's army commanders on Friday (February 8).
Khamenei has also strongly criticized Trump's first-term administration. Khamenei said that negotiations with the United States are neither wise nor honorable. It has not solved any problems. This is because of experience.
Iran's supreme leader also accused Trump of violating and destroying a 2015 nuclear deal. Meanwhile, the Trump administration has already imposed its first round of sanctions against Iran.
