Pavipravi Representative:
The university administration and residential students have removed the nameplate of the Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Residential Students' Hall of Patuakhali Science and Technology University (PUSTU).
On Thursday (February 6) at 1 am, the university administration broke the nameplate in the presence of residential students. At that time, the students covered the mural of Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib with black paper. It is worth noting that on Wednesday (February 5) night, the angry student crowd erased the fascist memorial signs in various areas of the country, including Sheikh Mujib's house at Dhanmondi 32, through a bulldozer program, focusing on the provocative speech of fugitive former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. In view of this, the administration removed the nameplate in response to the demands of the students of the Fazilatunnesa Mujib Residential Hall of Pobiprobi.
In this regard, Israt Nafisa, a student of the residential hall, said that the nameplate was removed at the initiative of the university administration in response to the students' long-standing demand for a name change, and expressed hope that the new name would be determined based on the opinions of the residential students.
Another student, Diamani Islam Sadia, said that the memorial of the fascist family was erased to preserve the spirit of the July Revolution.
In this regard, Hall Provost Professor Dr. Mohammad Asadul Haque said, "I did not know much about the nameplate being broken, but I see in the picture that it was removed by the initiative of ordinary students." When asked about the new name, he said, "The new name has not been decided yet. However, a committee has been formed in this regard and they will take a unanimous decision."
