Four more CNGs stolen from grocery stores, police station OC says it's not a robbery, it's a theft!
Members of a gang of robbers have robbed a grocery store, including four CSGs, in Shantiganj, Sunamganj.
On Friday, sometime between 3 am and 3:30 am, a gang of robbers robbed four CNG-powered autorickshaws and goods from a grocery store at the Brammangaon point in Paschim Pahgala Union of the upazila and went to Birdarg.
On Friday, Jaglul Haider, UP Chairman of Paschim Pagla Union Parishad in Shantiganj Upazila, went to the spot in the morning and confirmed the truth of the robbery incident. He told Jugantor that the people of the area, including transport traders, drivers, businessmen and ordinary people, are shocked by the incident.
On Friday afternoon, when I went to the ground to investigate, a group of organized robbers first came to the Brammangaon point in Shantiganj of the upazila and blindfolded the night guard there with a lungi. Then, the members of the robbers robbed four CNG-powered autorickshaws and a grocery store kept in different places at the point and left for Bir Darpa. The organized robbers committed the robbery sometime between 3 am and 3:30 am on Friday morning.
The members of the gang robbed Farid Ahmed, son of the deceased Alim Uddin of Brahmangaon village in West Pagla union of the upazila (vehicle number: Sunamganj Th 11-3902), Abdul Khalik, son of Hanif Ullah of the same village (vehicle number: Sunamganj Th 11-3188), Ruhul Amin, son of Abdul Gafur of Chandapur village (vehicle number: Sunamganj Th 11-442), another CNG from East Birgaon union (Sunamganj Th 11-1482), and the entire goods of the grocery shop of Al Amin, a resident of Brahmangaon village, who were kept at points.
Al-Amin, a resident of Brammangaon in Shantiganj, said that all the goods including cash, cigarette cartons, biscuits and other items were stolen from the cash basket of my grocery store. He said that my family used to live on the income from this store, but now that avenue has also been closed.
Aftar Ali, a night watchman on duty at Paschimpara Brammangaon point in Shantiganj upazila, said, "Before I knew anything, four men came and attacked me in the early hours of the morning. Then they held a sharp knife to my throat and forbade me from shouting. When I tried to stop them, they removed my lungi, tied my eyes, face, hands and feet and threw me under a truck some distance away. The robbers tied me up like this for about an hour or two."
Ahmed Sarwar, Zayed Ahmed, local social workers Sajeeb Ahmed, Shukur Ali and transport worker Gafur Ali, who were at the scene of the robbery in Shantiganj, expressed their outrage at the incident and said, "On the night of January 22, two Dhaka-bound buses were robbed in the neighboring Chhatak police station area, and then another robbery occurred in the neighboring Shantiganj police station area of Chhatak early on Friday morning. As a result, we, the common people, businessmen, expatriate families, transport owners and workers, are expressing outrage at the deterioration of law and order, negligence in police duties, and even at the same time."
On Friday afternoon, Shantiganj Police Station OC Akram Hossain said that the incident was not a robbery, but a theft. He said that he had not received any complaint here and that a case would be filed if a complaint is received.
