A Thai Airways flight made an emergency landing at Chattogram Shah Amanat International Airport carrying a passenger who had suffered a heart attack. The plane landed safely in Chittagong at 1 am on Thursday (February 6).
Shah Amanat International Airport Engineer (Public Relations) Mohammad Ibrahim Khalil confirmed the incident. The passenger's name is Md. Sajjad. His seat number is 34H.
It is learned that the Area Control Unit of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport Control Tower informed Chittagong Tower at 12:39 am that a passenger on board Thai Airways' Bangkok to Dhaka flight THA339 had declared a medical emergency due to a heart attack and the captain of the aircraft was seeking to make an emergency landing at the nearest Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport.
The tower of Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport immediately informed the airport director and SATO. The plane made first contact at 12:45 am. The plane landed safely in Chittagong at 1 am.
The matter was quickly informed to all the relevant agencies of Chittagong Airport. He further said that the gate of the plane opened at 1:31 am. The doctor on duty at the airport entered the plane at 1:40 am. The doctor initially considered the patient dead and informed the airport control tower that it was not possible to declare a definite death without an ECG. In that case, he advised to send the patient to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
Later, when contacted, Thai Airways Airport Manager Md. Alam said that they would take the patient onboard to Dhaka and complete the next formalities. The plane then departed from Chittagong for Dhaka at 3:40 am.
