Actress, singer and producer Meher Afroz Shaon was arrested from Dhanmondi on Thursday night. Some time later, another actress Sohana Sabar was arrested. As of today (Friday), they are being interrogated at the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) office.
They are being interrogated at the DB office on various issues. However, the police have not yet decided whether they will be arrested in any case. However, DMP Additional Commissioner (DB) Rezaul Karim told the media that he has been arrested on charges of state conspiracy.
DB police said that since the two actresses were brought to the DB office, detectives have been interrogating them on various issues, including anti-state conspiracies. They are being interrogated continuously on these issues. The police will not take any decision against the two actresses until the interrogation is over.
Regarding whether the two actresses will be arrested in any case, DMP Additional Commissioner (DB) Rezaul Karim Mallick said, "No decision has been made yet. Detectives are questioning the two actresses."

A DB source says that after actress Shaon, Sohana Saba was under their surveillance. She is accused of conspiring against the country.

National Film Award winner Shaon collected Awami League nomination forms from Mymensingh Division to contest for the reserved women's seat in the 12th National Parliament in 2024. Shaon's mother, Tohura Ali, was also a member of parliament for the reserved seat in the National Parliament. Shaon is the wife of novelist Humayun Ahmed.
Meanwhile, there are allegations against Sohana Sabad. During the anti-discrimination student movement in July last year, Sohana Sabad and a group of artists were active against the movement in a WhatsApp group called 'Alo Asbei'. After the government fell in the movement, the actress faced criticism when some screenshots of messages related to that WhatsApp group were circulated.
