Police have recovered the body of a child named Purnima Reli (12) with her throat and wrists cut near the Shamsernagar tea garden in Kamalganj upazila of Moulvibazar.
The body was recovered from between two mounds in section number 11 of the tea garden at 8:30 am on Thursday (February 6). The deceased, Purnima, was the daughter of Aparao Reli, a tea worker from mound number 6 of the Shamshernagar tea garden.
According to local sources, "Purnima went out to look for the cow last Wednesday afternoon. But when she did not return home even after evening, her family members and locals went out to look for her. However, they became worried when they did not find any trace of her."
The next morning, while the garden workers were going to work, they found Purnima's bloody body with her throat and wrists cut between two hills in Section No. 11. Upon receiving the information, a team from Shamshernagar police outpost went to the spot and recovered the body.
Kamalganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Syed Iftekhar Hossain confirmed the incident and said, "Purnima's body has been sent to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy."
He added, "The police investigation is continuing to unravel the mystery of the incident and preparations for the case are underway."
Locals demand that the criminals be identified quickly and brought to justice.
