Satyajit Das (Moulvibazar Correspondent):
Approval has been given to construct a new bypass road in Moulvibazar's Srimangal town to ease traffic congestion and facilitate travel for tourists. The construction cost of this 6.2-kilometer-long connecting road has been estimated at Tk 355 crore. Under the direction of the Chief Advisor, the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges has taken initiatives to implement the project quickly.
Srimangal city is called the "Capital of Tea". It is the main gateway to Moulvibazar district, where there is a crowd of domestic and foreign tourists almost all the time of the year. But since the main roads of the city are narrow, the pressure of vehicles is increasing, resulting in regular traffic jams. Government and private institutions, shops, hotels and restaurants, educational institutions - all together are creating chaos on the roads, which is also causing problems for tourists.
Deputy Commissioner Md. Israil Hossain said on Wednesday (February 5), "A decision has been taken to construct a new connecting road (N-215) to ease traffic congestion. The bypass road will start from the north side of Sakina CNG pump and connect to the side of Caritas Technical Center on Moulvibazar-Sreemangal road."
Key features of the project:
1) Road length: 6.2 kilometers.
2) Width: 10.3 meters.
3) Connected infrastructure: 11 culverts, 9 bridges. 4) Lamp posts and road dividers.
The project was approved by the Chief Advisor on February 2. Instructions have been given to implement it based on a confidential report from the Field Administration Liaison Branch of the Cabinet Division.
The conscious public of the tourist city is hoping that the construction of this bypass road will reduce traffic congestion in Srimangal and make travel easier for tourists.
