In a brief speech before announcing the committee, President Ruhul Amin said, for a long time, a syndicate of a few people has been keeping the Khetlal Press Club under its wing. Where despite more than a decade of journalism, despite all the qualifications, young and talented media workers who were looting benefits themselves were not given any opportunity. In contrast, there are government-paid teachers who have been in Khetlal for a long time. The press club was occupied by such amateurs and political office-holders. This press club is open to all news workers of the upazila. The doors of the Khetl Press Club are open to those who are interested in joining this press club. This organization is not someone's ancestral property.
General Secretary Hasan Ali said, I am grateful to all the organizations. He said, there is no alternative to amending the Digital Law. As always, we are demanding the amendment of the Digital Security Law. We will start working to improve the standards of journalists soon. He called for avoiding the ongoing division, violence, and disagreements among journalists and said, if journalists are united, no evil force can do anything to journalists. He requested all journalists to work in unity.
In his speech, Organizing Secretary A. Razzak said, "By breaking the wall of flatterers, a beautiful and non-discriminatory journalism will be established in Khetlal through the committee. This corruption will be eliminated with the help of all professional media workers of the district and upazila. From today, journalism in Khetlal will be free from political influence, objective and independent." He also said, "If any other organization tries to influence this upazila, they will be suppressed with a strong hand."
A comprehensive agenda was taken up at the meeting to strengthen the organization. This included drafting a constitution, annual banquet, journalist training, newspaper advertisements, and many other measures. In addition, at the beginning of the meeting, a minute of silence was observed to express deep sorrow over the deaths of students and family members killed in the anti-discrimination student movement. In addition, important discussions and decisions were taken at the meeting to accelerate the activities and development of the press club.
