Shahiduzzaman Shimul, Satkhira:
Satkhira District Jubo League convener Mizanur Rahman Mizan was not found, and his college-aged son was taken from the compound in plain clothes and sent to jail in a case of arson at Satkhira Sadar Police Station.
He was sent to jail by the court on Tuesday (February 4) afternoon.
Earlier in the morning, a team of DB police in plain clothes picked him up from one of their enclosures in Alipur, Satkhira Sadar Upazila.
The family alleges that a team of DB took away their son after failing to find his father. He is a final year student of the computer department of Satkhira Polytechnic Institute. There was no case against him.
Family sources also said that police have conducted several raids on their house in the past few days.
Satkhira Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shaminul Islam said, Md. Naimur Rahman Prant was shown arrested in the case of burning the police station on August 5. He is not a student, but a fish trader.
In this context, Arafat Hossain, convener of the Satkhira Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, said, "The incident of burning the police station was an expression of anger and resentment of many people. Showing any student arrested in this case does not go with the spirit of July. Besides, it is also unfair to bring up a son without finding his father."###
