Sylhet AC Land accused of taking bribes worth 2.5 lakh taka per week

In Sunamganj, Sylhet, Sadar Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) AC Land has been accused of taking a bribe of 2.5 lakh taka per week.
The allegation of taking bribes came to light after a truck driver was arrested in the New Bus Station area of Sunamganj district town on Tuesday afternoon.
The vehicle drivers brought the allegation against Sadar Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Aciland Md. Ismail Hossain in Sunamganj. However, Aciland himself has directly denied the allegation of taking bribes.
On Tuesday, Sadar Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Ismail Rahman stopped the movement of vehicles and arrested a driver who left a truck parked on the road.
The drivers complained that the truck driver was arrested for not paying the weekly dues to the ACLAND office. The drivers then stopped the traffic in protest.
Drivers' complaints: A truck driver was arrested for not paying his weekly dues to the AC Land office. The angry drivers blocked the Sylhet-Sunamganj regional highway. AC Land was later forced to release the arrested driver after facing gunfire.
At that time, truck drivers complained in front of AC Land, saying that due to unemployment, more than a hundred of our truck drivers and workers are earning a living by cutting various goods and soil. For this, Nazir cum cashier Murad Mia took a bribe of 2.5 lakh taka a week in the name of AC Land office. One of us was arrested for not paying the money this week.
Accused Nazir-cum-cashier Murad Mia claimed the allegation was completely false on the spot.
Sunamganj Sadar Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Ismail Rahman said, "If anyone in my office has taken bribes, I will take action if you submit a written complaint."
