The lease of 7 markets and markets in Ghoraghat Upazila of Dinajpur has been completed smoothly under the joint guard of the army and police. The lease of these markets and markets was completed at the Upazila Executive Officer's office at 4:30 pm on Tuesday (February 4). At that time, a crowd of several thousand eager people could be seen in front of the Upazila Parishad administrative building.
It is known that according to government policies, tenders for the lease of the market were invited in national and local dailies. The last time for collecting tenders was on Tuesday, February 4, at 1:30 pm. Later, at around 4:30 pm, the tender box was opened under the leadership of Upazila Executive Officer Rafiqul Islam. The 7 market places in the upazila are, No. 1 Bulakipur Union's Bolgari Market, Haripara Market, No. 2 Palsha Union's Dugdugi Market, Balahar Market, Chowdhury Gopalpur Market, No. 3 Singra Union's Chandpara Market and Raniganj Market.
Among the haats, the highest bid for Raniganj Haat-Bazar was submitted by Hafizur Rahman, a prominent businessman of Raniganj Haat. The highest bid price was 7 crore 11 lakh taka. On the other hand, the highest bid for another big haat, Dugdugi Haat-Bazar was submitted by Mofazzal Hossain Prodhan, a prominent businessman of Dugdugi Haat, who received the lease by submitting the highest bid of 18 lakh 90 thousand taka.
Present at the event were Ghoraghat Upazila Agriculture Officer Rafiquzzaman, Ghoraghat-Hakimpur Assistant Superintendent of Police A.N.M. Niamat Ullah, Ghoraghat Government College Principal Monirul Islam, Ghoraghat Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nazmul Haque, Police Inspector (Investigation) Shahidul Islam, Army Senior Warrant Officer Alhamdu, Ghoraghat Upazila BNP President and former Upazila Council Chairman Shah Md. Shamim Hossain Chowdhury, General Secretary Abu Sayeed Mia, Ghoraghat Municipal BNP President Abdus Sattar Milon, 3rd Singra UP Chairman Sajjad Hossain, tenderers, businessmen, upazila print and electronic media workers and many others.
In this regard, Upazila Executive Officer Rafiqul Islam said, "The tender box has been opened in front of everyone. The lease activities of the seven hats and markets of the upazila have been completed in a smooth and peaceful manner following the policies."
