Md. Dewan filed a complaint at Alfadanga Police Station, identifying 66 people and 25/30 others. Case No. 7 was filed on the night of January 30. During the night, a raid was conducted and 4 people were arrested and sent to court.
Recently, the people of Nazrul Sheikh, the leader of the Krishak League of Kuchiagram Gopalpur Union, attacked Bipul Sheikh (50), a van driver of the Rubel Ship Master Group, with shields, sarki, ramda and other domestic weapons. They tried to cut off Bipul's leg. When Bipul's wife came forward in a loud scream, they also hacked her and injured her. They attacked 4 houses including Bipul's house, seriously injuring 4 people from both groups.
When Bipul Sheikh and his wife were brought to the Alfadanga Health Complex, the doctor on duty sent them to the Dhaka National Orthopaedic Hospital and Rehabilitation Institute (NITOR) or Pangu Hospital for advanced treatment. The remaining two are admitted to Alfadanga Hospital.
It is learned that there has been a long-standing dispute over the land between Abu Khair of Kuchiagram in the upazila and Siddiq Apan. On Tuesday, January 28, the surveyor inspected the disputed land. Siddiq's own nephew took his (Siddiq) side and argued with his other uncle Abu Khair. Rubel Ship Master Ser Mohammad, Abu Khair's other side Kamrul, Siddiq, Nazrul clashed on Wednesday morning over this incident. Nazrul is the head of the group. In the absence of the group, his wife Rupali Begum runs the team.
Rubel Jahaj Master, the leader of the injured Bipul Sheikh's party, said, "I was not in the area at the time of the incident. On Tuesday morning, a surveyor came to measure the land of Rubel Sheikh of our party. There, Nazrul Sheikh threatened to vandalize and beat our houses in front of everyone. On Wednesday morning, his party members led by Nazrul Sheikh attacked with country-made weapons and injured three of our party members. Among them, an attempt was made to amputate the legs of the seriously injured Bipul. It is not yet certain that his legs will be saved. He and his wife have been admitted to the Pangu Hospital. Bipul's body was slashed with sharp weapons in various places. The houses of our party members were demolished and razed to the ground.
Denying the incident, Nazrul Sheikh said, "There is a dispute between Rubel Sheikh and my party supporter Siddiq Sheikh over the land. The surveyor came to measure the land on Tuesday morning. Then Bipul Sheikh threatened to beat up our people. On Wednesday morning, Bipul Sheikh and his group attacked our people, in which a person named Sujan Sheikh was seriously injured. He has been admitted to the Alfadanga Health Complex."
SI Sameer Kumar, the investigator of the case, said, "On the instructions of the OC, after receiving the news of the clash, we reached the spot and brought the situation under control and filed a case at night. Four accused have been arrested, while efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining accused."
