The Border Guard Battalion Bangladesh (BGB) has seized smuggled goods worth Tk 1.73 crore, including injection alcohol produced in India, cattle, Sheikh Nasir Uddin bidi liquor.
In the past two days on Tuesday morning and Monday, the 48th Border Guard Battalion Bangladesh (BGB) of Sylhet Sector, Bangrabazar, Sonalichela, Lafarge, Chhatak, Kalasadek, Utma, Pantumai, DB Haor, Pratabpur, Sonarhat, Sangram, Sreepur BOP, BGB patrol teams seized the smuggled goods in separate operations in Sunamganj's Doarabazar, Sunamganj's Bangrabazar, Sonalichela, Chhatak, Sylhet's Kalasadek, Utma, Pantumai, DB's Haor, Pratabpur, Sonarhat, Sangram, Sreepur BOP.
48 Border Guard Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Md. Hafizur seized cattle (buffalo), sugar, Sheikh Nasir Uddin bidi containing banned excess nicotine, liquor, betel nut, garlic, horn fish, DI truck used for smuggling, Mahindra tractor, border river stone-lifting boat and other goods worth around 1.16 crore taka.
Sunamganj Border:
The Border Guard Battalion Bangladesh (BGB) has seized smuggled goods worth Tk 5.7 million, including ingestion pills manufactured in New Delhi, India.
In the past two days, on Tuesday morning and Monday, the 28th Border Guard Battalion Bangladesh (BGB) of Sylhet Sector, Tekerghat, Baliaghat in Tahirpur of Sunamganj, Chinakandi, Dolura in Bishambhapur, Pekpara and Chinaura BOPs of Sadar Upazila, BGB patrol teams seized the smuggled goods in separate operations.
Lt. Col. AKM Zakaria Qadir, commander of the 28th Border Guard Battalion, said that smuggled goods worth Tk 55,51,160 including 25,160 (100 mg) progesterone injections (for regularizing women's periods) manufactured in New Delhi, India, fuchka, sugar, cattle (cows), henna, motorcycles, etc. were seized.
A specialist doctor at Sylhet M.A.G. Osmani Medical College Hospital said that progesterone injections are used to regularize women's periods, but the use of this injection carries an additional risk of miscarriage.
