Students of Dhaka's Government Titumir College have returned to classrooms after a week of suspending their protest after receiving 'assurances' from the government. However, after seven days without any visible progress, they have announced a new protest.
Classes will be held from 8:45 am to 11:00 am on Tuesday. Then, the third-year final exam will be held from 12:30 pm.
Protest leader Nur Mohammad said that the program will be suspended for seven days for the time being. During this time, classes and exams will continue. The program will be announced later depending on the government's visible decision.
Students of Titumir College boycotted classes and exams, went on hunger strike and blocked roads and railways last week to demand seven points, including the conversion of their institution into an independent university. Education Ministry officials held talks with them on Monday night and assured them of increased facilities for students, although there was no clear announcement about the conversion to a university.
