In Kotalipara Upazila of Gopalganj, the wife of a businessman named Rubel Sardar (35) cut off his penis because his husband had remarried.
The incident took place late on Monday night in Biramerkandi village of Kushla union of the upazila. The incident has created a sensation in the area. Rubel Sardar is the son of Manzel Sardar of Biramerkandi village and a Thai aluminum businessman from Ghaghar Bazar.
According to local sources, Rubel Sardar had a love affair with Reshma Begum, daughter of Amir Ali Farazi of Biramerkandi village, and married her 12 years ago. After the marriage, there was unrest in Reshma Begum's family due to Rubel Sardar's extramarital affairs with other women. He married a Hindu woman 3 months ago.
Enraged, Reshma Begum cut off his penis with a knife in the bedroom late on Monday night. Hearing Rubel Sardar's screams, the family members came forward and rescued him and admitted him to the Upazila Health Center. There, as his physical condition deteriorated, the doctors sent Rubel Sardar to the Dhanmondi branch of the Popular Hospital and Diagnostic Center in Dhaka.
