The speakers said that Saghata Union Chairman Mosharraf Hossain Sweet and his brother Sujauddaula Shuja and his fostered terrorists were involved in the attacks on students in Dhaka and Gaibandha by terrorists during the anti-discrimination student movement. After the mass uprising, they planned to attack the Bangladesh Army and two of their hired terrorists were killed in their attack. Later, to divert attention from the killings, they filed a case accusing army members and local Jamaat-e-BNP leaders and activists.
The speakers also said that Sweet-Suja sometimes got involved in Jatiya Party and sometimes Awami League politics to protect their illegal wealth and expand their influence. There is a terrorist force of about 200 members. The entire upazila population is fed up with their oppression. They used former Chhatra League central president and former MP from Saghata-Fulchhari, Mahmud Hasan Ripon, as their main source of power. Although the party's leaders and activists have almost disappeared from the country after the fall of the Awami League government recently, Sweet's influence in Saghata has not diminished at all. Not only that, they are illegally extracting sand worth about 1 million taka every day by occupying 20 chars surrounded by the Jamuna River and selling it openly. But the authorities are silent. The general public cannot protest because of their fear. After the human chain, a memorandum was submitted to the Gaibandha District Commissioner, the army and the chief advisor for the immediate arrest and exemplary trial of Mosharraf Hossain Sweet, his brother Shujauddaula Shuja and the terrorist group.
