Five people, including a child, were seriously injured in a collision between a CNG-powered vehicle and a truck in Kaukhali, Rangamati.
The accident occurred on Monday (February 3) morning on the Kashkhali and Battali roads of the upazila.
Those injured in the clash are: Sukhmoy Chakma's wife Rupali Khisa (40) and her child Adarsh Chakma (8) from Dobakata area of Fatikchhari, Chathuang Marma, son of Chapru Marma, Usapru Marma, son of deceased Angsajai Marma, and CNG driver Md. Taher, son of Mozaffar Ahmed from Rangipara area.
Eyewitnesses said that a speeding truck coming from Kaukhali and a CNG-powered autorickshaw coming from the opposite direction collided head-on in the morning. The CNG overturned. At least five people, including a child, were seriously injured. Locals rescued the injured and took them to Kaukhali Health Complex.
Dr. Sagar Barua, the doctor on duty at Kaukhali Health Complex, said that among the injured, Chathuang Marma and Usapru Marma have been transferred to Chittagong Medical College Hospital as their conditions have deteriorated.
Kaukhali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Saiful Islam said, "Police were sent to the scene after receiving the information. The truck driver fled after the accident."
