A court has remanded six people, including former advisor Salman F. Rahman and former Law Minister Anisul Haque, in the murder case of auto-rickshaw driver Hafizul Sikder in the capital's Badda police station area, which is the focus of the anti-discrimination movement.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate GM Farhan Ishtiaq gave the order after the hearing on Monday. Earlier, the police produced the accused in court from Keraniganj Jail at 9:15 am. Then, Ridwanul Haque, the investigation officer of the case and inspector of Dhaka Metro North of CID, applied for a 5-day remand. The accused's lawyer applied for bail, seeking cancellation of the remand. Public Prosecutor Omar Faruk Faruki, representing the state, heard the remand. After the hearing, the judge granted a 2-day remand.
