The Bangla Academy Literary Awards were presented at the opening ceremony of the Amar Ekushey Book Fair on Saturday (February 1) afternoon. The awardees were then made to stand behind each other and a photo session was held, which generated widespread criticism on social media.
In this context, Salimullah Khan said, "Many people are trolling the Bangla Academy's award ceremony. They are asking me, why did you sit in front of the students and stand behind them? I said, they are sitting as a symbol of power. If the Bangla Academy does not know how to show respect to people, will we rebel against them or not?"
At an event on Sunday, he said, "If Bangla Academy doesn't know etiquette, what can they do?"
He further said that criticizing the Bangla Academy and the organizers, this essayist said that slavery must be ended here too. To end slavery, everyone must be united.
