Bangladesh Bank released the data on Sunday (February 2) showing that the expatriate income in January was $2.185 billion.
According to data, the first month of the anti-discrimination movement, overseas income decreased in July. Banks and the internet were closed for several days in July.
Expatriates also reduced their remittances through legal channels in solidarity with the movement to overthrow the government.
After the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government in early August, expatriates continued to increase their remittances. In August, $222.415 million was received, in September, $240.479 million, in October, $239.508 million, in November, $219.999 million, in December, $263.878 million, and in January, $218.523 million.
A review of the data shows that $511.13 million came through state-owned banks in January.
