An education cadre official named Mukib Mia has distributed Awami League leaflets demanding the resignation of the interim government led by Nobel Laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus, violating government service rules.
He distributed leaflets in front of the National Press Club on Saturday (February 1) morning. Mukib Mia also shared the picture and related media news on his Facebook account.
It is learnt that Mukib Mia is a former student of Dhaka University. He is a member of the recently banned Bangladesh Chhatra League. He was the mass education secretary of the Sohag-Nazmul Committee. Mukib, an officer of the 31st batch of the BCS education cadre, is currently an assistant professor in the English department of the Government Jasmuddin Kazi Abdul Gani College in Patgram, Lalmonirhat.
In a post at 7:30 pm on Saturday, Mukib wrote, "If any of the leaders and activists of Awami League, Chhatra League, Jubo League, Swechchhasebak League, Krishak League, Jatiya Sramik League, Jubo Mohila League, and Mahila Awami League need leaflets, I will provide them. Sheikh Hasina will come, Bangladesh will wake up, Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu. Give your address and mobile number on Facebook Messenger."
Although government employees are not allowed to criticize the government on social media, Mukib Mia regularly writes on Facebook, strongly criticizing the interim government led by Dr. Muhammad Yunus.
The Secondary and Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education filed a departmental case against him on January 20, citing these writings as a violation of conduct under Section 3(b) of the Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 2018.
He was also given a notice within 10 days to explain why he should not be dismissed from his job. He was also asked whether he was willing to attend a personal hearing to defend himself.
