Police have arrested three hijackers in Saltha, Faridpur. Three people were arrested while hijacking an auto-rickshaw from the Saltha-Faridpur road in the area called Member Gotti of Gotti Union of the upazila at around 10 pm on Saturday (February 1).
According to police and locals, at around 10 pm on Saturday, local people heard a person screaming from Aguldia Bridge near Membergatti. Later, people came forward and surrounded the robbers along with a battery-powered auto-rickshaw. Upon receiving this information, Saltha police immediately went to the spot and recovered the auto-rickshaw along with the three robbers and brought it to Saltha police station.
It is worth noting that local residents said that there have been several incidents of robbery in this area in the past few days.
The arrested are Biplob Ali (35), son of Yakub Ali of Joypur Uttar Jamira village under Belpukur police station in Rajshahi district, A. Aziz Molya (35), son of Nuruddin Molya of Kamaidiya village in Saltha upazila, and Rakibul (23), son of Ahad Ali of Royer Char village in Sonapur union in the same upazila.
Saltha Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Ataur Rahman said, "Three hijackers were arrested along with the autorickshaw with the help of locals from Member Gotti area while hijacking an autorickshaw on Saturday night. Legal action is under process against the arrested persons. He also informed that there are multiple cases against the arrested persons in different police stations of the country."
