Shahjahan Ali Manon, Saidpur (Nilphamari) Correspondent: The 106th birth anniversary of the famous Bhavaiya song lyricist, composer and artist of the subcontinent, late Mahesh Chandra Roy, has been celebrated. On this occasion, a discussion meeting and Bhavaiya song festival were organized in Saidpur, Nilphamari. On Saturday (February 1) afternoon, the program was organized by the director, composer, and musician of Suradhwani Sangeet Niketan in Balapara of Bangalipur Union of the upazila, Vinay Kumar Rajbangshi and Krishna Kamal Roy.
The chief guest was Tikendrajit Roy Miru, headmaster of Barunidanga Adarsh High School in Nilphamari Sadar Upazila, and special guests were Md. Erfan Hossain, teacher, artist and researcher of Dhaka Chhayanaut, journalist M. Omar Faruk, cultural editor of Syedpur Shilpa Sahitya Sangsad, and Bhawaiya lover Ashrafuzzaman Babu.
The event was presided over by Rezaul Karim Reza, Principal of Laxmanpur School and College. The welcome address was delivered by Tapas Roy, and the director of Suradhwani Sangeet Niketan, composer and singer Binoy Kumar Rajbangshi, delivered the welcome speech. Shishir Kumar Roy Manik, son of late singer Mahesh Chandra Roy, participated in the discussion. The speakers at the meeting discussed in detail the musical biography of late singer Mahesh Chandra Roy and the Bhavaiya Sangeet he wrote.
Earlier, at the beginning of the Bhawaiya song festival, a wreath was placed at the portrait of the late artist Mahesh Chandra Roy. Later, Bhawaiya songs written by the artist were performed by Dhaka Chhayanaut teacher, artist and researcher Md. Erfan Hossain, musician Binoy Kumar Rajbangshi, late artist Mahesh Chandra Roy's son Shishir Kumar Roy Manik, grandson Krishna Kamal Roy, Bhawaiya artist Bithi Zaman, folk singer Amena Khatun, students of Suradhwani Sangeet Niketan, Prant Roy and Imam Hossain Sabuj.
