The condition of several students is critical!! The critical students are Rashed, Raihan and Rana.
Several students of the government-run Titumir College have gone on a hunger strike to demand the conversion of the college into a university. Some have lost consciousness and some have been hospitalized during the five-day program. Currently, 11 students are on a hunger strike in front of the main gate of the college in a state of illness. Of these, 3 are in critical condition.
Dr. Russell Ahmed gave this information at a press conference after treating the hunger strike students on Sunday (February 2) afternoon.
Dr. Russell Ahmed said, "Due to the severe cold and long hunger strike, their physical condition is gradually deteriorating. If this situation continues, the situation will become critical. Many people are not urinating due to not drinking water for a long time. As a result, there is a possibility of kidney and liver failure."
He said, "Given the serious condition of the hunger strikers, I have ordered their admission to the hospital. If they are not admitted to the hospital, the students will face physical problems for a long time."
Arafat, a student of Titumir College, said, "Although the condition of the hunger strikers is serious, the government has not given them any specific assurances so far. Although there was a program to block railways and roads today, we have withdrawn it so that devout Muslims do not suffer during the Bishwa Ijtema. We are calling on the government to quickly implement our demands."
