The incident took place on Ulan Road in the Porabari area of Shchim Rampura around 9:30 pm on Saturday.
The two people who were shot are Md. Jilani (55) and Shuvo (17). They are currently undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Jilani's son Saiful Islam said that their home is in the Jhilpar area of Rampura Porabari. At the time of the incident, his father was selling bananas on the side of the road. The teenager named Shuvo had come to buy pitha nearby. At that time, the electricity went out. Suddenly, some young men started running around shouting. Just then, three gunshots were heard in quick succession.
"My father noticed that blood was pouring from his body. Shuvo was also bleeding. Later, both of them were taken to the hospital," said Saiful.
Dhaka Medical College Hospital Police Outpost In-Charge (Inspector) Md. Faruk said that two people from Rampura came to the hospital with bullet injuries. Shuvo was shot in the buttock and Jilani in the lower abdomen.
