They have to buy seedlings for five taka, cultivate cauliflower with fertilizer, labor, and sweat, and sell it for two taka. When the farmer goes to buy, he is cheated, and when he goes to sell, he is cheated. In this way, the farmers are completely peaceful. They protested being tied to the agricultural products syndicate and demanded the syndicate be broken. At a farmers' rally organized by the Hemnagar Union Krishak Dal of Gopalpur Upazila of Tangail.
The rally was held as part of a 3-month-long union-level farmers' rally across the country, aimed at organizing the majority farming community in Bangladesh.
During this time, farmers participated in the rally with a procession carrying various agricultural equipment.
The rally was held at Hemnagar Primary School grounds on Thursday (January 30) at 12 noon.
BNP Central Executive Committee Vice-Chairman and former Deputy Minister Abdus Salam Pintu addressed the rally via mobile phone.
Upazila Krishak Dal President Professor Md. Hatem Ali Mian presided over the meeting, with Tangail District Krishak Dal Member Secretary Shamimur Rahman Shamim (VP) as the chief guest. Gopalpur Upazila BNP President Khandaker Jahangir Alam Rubel, Jubo Dal Convener Saiful Islam Talukder Lelin, BNP leader Shahjahan VP, JASAS President Shahnur Ahmed Sohag, Municipal Krishak Dal President Abdus Salam, General Secretary Iqbal Hossain and leaders and activists of Hemnagar, Nagada Shimla Union BNP and its affiliated organizations spoke.
