The District Administrator and the administration's task force team have conducted market monitoring activities in Sirajganj to keep the prices of essential commodities stable and market management smooth during the holy month of Ramadan.
The monitoring activity was conducted under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nazrul Islam on Monday (March 3) afternoon to evict sidewalk shops located in various places including the raw market, fish and meat market in Sirajganj Municipality.
Present at the event were Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Ganapati Roy, Sirajganj Police Superintendent Md. Faruk Hossain, Sadar Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Md. Monowar Hossain, Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Humayon Kabir, Sirajganj Municipal Executive Officer Md. Rafiqul Islam, and President of the Barabazar Business Committee, Tarazul Islam.
During this time, the Deputy Commissioner visited the raw market, fish market, beef and chicken market and talked to buyers and sellers about the prices of goods. He said that the administration is keeping a close watch on the price list in the shops, selling food items in a clean environment and not creating any disruption in the overall order of the market.
Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nazrul Islam said that monitoring is being done to ensure that no trader increases the prices of goods and creates an artificial crisis during the month of Ramadan. A task force team led by the executive magistrate will conduct market monitoring activities every day. Strict action will be taken if an artificial crisis is created in the market. He warned traders to keep price lists in their shops during this time.
