A robbery incident was reported at the house of Md. Belayet Hossain in Tetulia Upazila of Panchagarh on the night of March 2. As soon as the information was received, we conducted raids at various places with the help of various forces and locals and arrested 5 people.
The arrested are Md. Aynal Haque (40), son of the late Abdul Jabbar of Palanu Shahapur area, a member of the robber gang from Ananta Nagar, Md. Shariful Islam (28), son of Md. Abdul Jalil of Makimpur Madhyapara area, Md. Hasanur (41), son of the late Badsha Fakir of Azampur Fakirpara area, Md. Anwar Hossain (42), son of the late Abdul Aziz of Shathibari Haripur area, all from Rangpur district, and Md. Tahidul Islam (40), son of the late Riaz Uddin of Dinajpur Mijarpur area.
In this regard, Panchagarh, District Superintendent of Police Mizanur Rahman Munshi told reporters at a press briefing in the Superintendent's conference room on March 3, "We were able to arrest 5 members of the robber gang by conducting a raid with various teams, and the weapons used, iron rods, ropes, and tree branches, were seized."
In addition, 12,500 taka in cash, 6 Batan mobile phones, gold jewelry and a blue and yellow six-wheeled truck (Reg. No. 23_1423) have been seized.
It is believed that someone local is involved with them. The accused are currently in the custody of DB police. However, the interrogation of the accused is ongoing.
