Shahjahan Ali Manon, Nilphamari District Correspondent: Three people have been arrested in a devil hunt operation in Nilphamari's Saidpur. A team of Saidpur police station arrested them on Sunday (March 2) night. The arrested people have been arrested in a case of attacking the anti-discrimination student movement. The three arrested are leaders of the Swechchhasebak League, Krishak League and Chhatra League.
Among them, Md. Rana (28) is the son of Sahabuddin of Sahebpara in the city and the former deputy relief, disaster and management affairs secretary of the Swechchhasebak League Saidpur municipal branch. And Khairat Hossain Bahadur (32) is the former president of the Krishak League of Ward No. 7 of Kamarpukur Union in the upazila. He is the son of Jasir Uddin of Aisdhal Kacharipara in that union. Both of these people have been arrested from their respective homes.
Hussain Ahmed Sohag (28), a member of Chhatra League's Syedpur municipal branch, is the son of Abdus Sattar of Notun Babupara area of the city. He was arrested by police in front of Chowdhury Tower on Sher-e-Bangla Road. All three have been arrested in a case of attacking the student movement, according to police sources.
Faim Uddin, officer-in-charge of Syedpur Police Station, said that the detained persons are not the accused in the complaint but are suspects. They were sent to court on the pretext of arrest in case No. 20 filed in September last year. The plaintiff in that case is Sheikh Bablu, general secretary of Syedpur Municipality BNP.
