Sadrul Ain:
Former State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder said, "I have completely retired from politics."
I have resigned from the general membership of the Awami League. I do not have any party position. One cannot do politics at the age of 76. We want a new leadership to come.
He said this on Monday (March 3) at the Metropolitan Magistrate Court premises in Dhaka.
Six people, including Kamal Ahmed Majumdar, were produced in court from jail today. They were taken from the jail to the court docket under police guard at around 10 am.
The judge entered the courtroom at 10:07 am. Then the hearing began to show the arrest of six people in the Kafrul Police Station case.
At one point in the hearing, Kamal Ahmed Majumder raised his hand to speak. The judge then granted the request to show their arrest in the case. Later, the judge allowed him to speak.
Then Kamal Ahmed Majumder said regretfully, "I am 76 years old. I have a problem with my eyes. 70 percent of them are damaged. I am unable to find out anything about my family. I will not participate in Awami League politics until I die. I have resigned from politics."
I do not hold any position in the Awami League. From now on, I have resigned from the primary membership path as well. No digital device or medicine is being given to check diabetes in prison. Not even the Holy Quran Sharif is being given. One case after another is being filed. One torture after another is being done. At this age, I am being oppressed.
There is no other way but to call upon Allah. That is why I request you to provide diabetes medicine, a digital diabetes measuring device, and a digital Quran Sharif.
At this time, the judge said, "Apply all your claims through a lawyer." The judge then granted the request to have him arrested.
Earlier, Kamal Ahmed Majumder was arrested from the capital's Gulshan area on the night of October 18. He was then remanded for questioning in multiple cases. He is currently detained in jail.
