The chief advisor to the interim government, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, said that a fugitive group has left the country or their leadership has left. They are trying their best to destabilize the country. It is always a threat. It is always there, everywhere. So it will always be there.
He said these things in an interview with BBC Bangla. The interview was published on Monday.
The chief advisor said, "When the government was formed, I had no idea that I would suddenly be the head of a government. That country, a country where everything is in ruins. Nothing is working properly anymore. We have to work through the rubble of everything that is there."
Regarding India-Bangladesh relations, Dr. Yunus said, "Very good. There has been no deterioration in our relations. As I have explained, our relations will always be good. They are good now, and they will be good in the future as well."
There is no way Bangladesh-India relations cannot be good. Our relations are close, our dependence on each other is so high and historically, politically, and economically we have such a close relationship, we cannot deviate from that. However, some conflicts have arisen in the middle, I said clouds have appeared. These clouds have come mostly from propaganda. Others will judge who the sources of the propaganda are. But as a result of this propaganda, a misunderstanding has arisen with us. We are trying to overcome that misunderstanding.
Regarding the banning of Awami League and politics, he said, "I will not go into details. My position has always been that we are all citizens of this country. We have equal rights over this country. We are all brothers and sisters. We have to live in this country. We have to make this country great. Therefore, whatever party or opinion you have, do everything according to it. There is no way to take away anyone's rights from this country. But whoever has done wrong, whoever deserves to be tried, must be tried. That's all."
Regarding the formation of a political party and politics, the chief advisor said, I have not formed a political party. I had talked about forming one. And this was the case for ten weeks. After ten weeks, I said - no, I will not go into politics. I said that politics is not my cup of tea. And that ended there, after that no one could pull me towards politics. Everyone tried to lead the country, you became the Prime Minister. Everyone tried. I did not want that. I said, that chapter is over. These ten weeks - that's enough. So that's how I am now. There is no possibility of me going into politics here. Don't do politics.
