The Charbhadrasan Upazila administration in Faridpur district has received a huge response from the needy by selling daily necessities at affordable prices since last Saturday.
Sarjamin saw on Sunday morning at 9:00 am that Upazila Executive Officer Monira Khatun, under her supervision, was selling various daily necessities at the Upazila Milk Market at prices lower than the market prices of the other items under the banner of the Upazila administration. Beef was sold at 650 taka, sugar at 116 taka, lentils at 98 taka, eggs at 40 taka, chickpeas at 96 taka per kg, muri at 65 taka per kg, and bud dal at 57 taka per kg, causing a huge loss to the poor and low-income families.
The helpless lower class is benefiting temporarily from this. Every daily essential item is being sold at a price less than 10 to 15 taka. Beef is being sold at less than 70 taka. Civil society has appreciated such great activities of the upazila administration. The administration has expressed its opinion that this initiative should be continued till Ramadan.
Senior journalist Abdus Salam Molla, president of Bangladesh Press Club, has appreciated the initiative of the upazila administration. He met Charbhadrasan Upazila Executive Officer Monira Khatun at 12:30 pm on Sunday and requested the upazila administration to sell daily necessities at fair prices in Hajiganj market and expressed his appreciation.
