Shahjahan Ali Manon, Nilphamari District Correspondent: Md. Abul Kashem (68), a fugitive convicted in a wife murder case, has been arrested by Nilphamari Police Station with the help of RAB from Gazipur after 18 years.
The arrested accused was sent to court on Sunday (March 2) afternoon. Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) MR Sayeed confirmed the matter. Abul Kashem, who was arrested on Saturday (March 1) night, is the son of the deceased Alijan of Baraipara area of Nilphamari district town.
According to police sources, Kashem brutally killed his second wife Begum Khatun in 2007 and buried her body alone. After the incident, the deceased's brother Yasin Ali filed a case with Sadar Police Station as the plaintiff. After a long hearing of the case, the learned court ordered the death penalty for Kashem.
Nilphamari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) MR Sayeed said, "On the instructions of the Superintendent of Police, Kashem's location was identified with the help of information technology. After confirmation, a drive was conducted in Gazipur and he was arrested."
