Sadrul Law:
The Inter-Cadre Discrimination Elimination Council, an organization of 25 BCS cadre officers, is observing a full-day strike demanding the withdrawal of the expulsion order issued to 12 officers of 25 cadres for writing on Facebook and the elimination of inter-cadre discrimination. As a result, normal work in the offices is being disrupted.
Officials also took a stand wearing black badges in front of various offices as part of the strike program on Sunday (March 2). The BCS General Education Cadre is one of the largest cadres in terms of numbers.
Education cadre officials took up positions at the premises of the department around 11 am today. The top-ranking education cadre official, Director General of the Department of Secondary and Higher Education, Professor Muhammad Azad Khan, was also seen participating.
Earlier, on Saturday, the council's coordinator Mofizur Rahman announced a full-day strike at Khamarbari in the capital. He said, "Those concerned will take steps to resolve the problem. If the problem is not resolved within a week, we will be forced to launch a strict program."
Mofizur Rahman said that during the strike, the officials will wear black badges and hold banners in front of their respective offices. He said, "22 officials of the administration cadre wrote offensive things on social media, but no action was taken against them. When the advisors were shown the writings of those 22 people, they also expressed surprise."
At this time, Mofizur Rahman again presented their 14 recommendations to eliminate discrimination among BCS cadre officers. In addition, in the main article at the meeting, he said that the Public Administration Reform Commission had proposed the establishment of profession-based ministries and the abolition of quotas for the post of deputy secretary on behalf of 25 cadres.
There have been calls from various levels of society to give importance to professionalism in the civil service. However, ignoring public demands, the Reform Commission report has observed an attempt to further increase the absolute power of a powerful group.
Mofizur Rahman said that if this report is fully implemented, efforts to reform the state will end in failure and administrative fascism will become stronger.
The program was presided over by agricultural expert Arif Hossain. The coordinator and co-coordinator of the Inter-Cadre Discrimination Elimination Council were present at the time.
