Welcoming the holy month of Ramadan in Ghoraghat, Dinajpur, the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ghoraghat Upazila branch held a procession and rally demanding protection of the sanctity of the month of Ramadan and keeping the prices of goods at a reasonable level.
On Saturday (March 1), a procession and rally was held from Ghoraghat Baz Terminal Mosque at 4:30 pm under the leadership of Upazila Jamaat Ameer Mofakhkhayer Islam Molla, calling for preserving the sanctity of Ramadan.
Speaking at the event were former District Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Central Majlish Surah Member, Dinajpur 6 Constituency Jamaat-nominated parliamentary candidate Anwarul Islam, former Vice Chairman of Ghoraghat Upazila, District Working Council Member Md. Alamgir Hossain, and Upazila Jamaat Ameer Mofakhkhayer Islam Mollah.
At a short rally after the procession, speakers said that on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, the prices of daily necessities should be within the purchasing power of the common people. The hardships of the fasting people during the holy month of Ramadan should be eased by reducing the prices of daily necessities and breaking the black market, hoarding and syndicates. Obscenity and immorality should be stopped. Uninterrupted power supply should be ensured during Iftar, Sehri and Tarawih prayers.
In honor of the holy month of Ramadan, he told hotel and restaurant owners to close their businesses and establishments during the day. Allah Almighty will compensate for the losses of your businesses in other ways.
Also present at the event were former Upazila Amir Azizar Rahman, Upazila Secretary Imran Hossain, Upazila Baitulmal Secretary Mofazzal Hossain Mithu, Executive Committee members Rezaul Karim, Matlubur Rahman, Golam Rabbani, Monowar Hossain, former Amir of the Municipal Jamaat and Senior Vice President of the Upazila Workers' Welfare Federation Selim Mia, former Municipal Secretary and Vice President of the Upazila Workers' Welfare Federation Ibadul Rahman, Upazila President of the Bangladesh Workers' Welfare Federation Najibor Rahman, Municipality and Union Presidents and Secretaries, along with hundreds of local Jamaat and Shibir leaders and activists and Islamic leaders and activists.
The procession started from Ghoraghat Bus Terminal Mosque, passed through Azadmor, Gaibandha Mor, Kalitala Gol Chattar, Puran Bazar and circled the main roads before ending with a short rally at Abara Bus Terminal.
