Three supporters of the same family in Gopalpur, Tangail, have been ordered not to maintain political relations with political leaders and activists on charges of violating BNP party discipline and extorting money by tarnishing the party's name.
Gopalpur Upazila BNP President Md. Jahangir Alam Rubel confirmed this matter on Friday (February 28) morning.
The expelled are Babul Hossain, son of Kandu Sheikh, his brother Setab Ali, and Babul's son Johnny, from Garalia Para village, ward no. 5 of Dhopakandi union in the upazila.
Earlier, this information was given in a press release signed by Upazila BNP President Md. Jahangir Alam Rubel and General Secretary Kazi Liaquat on Tuesday (February 26).
The press release said - Based on clear allegations of involvement in anti-social activities including breach of party discipline, extortion, theft, fights, they have been ordered not to participate in party activities and political activities with party leaders and activists. They will not be able to carry the party's identity and BNP will not bear responsibility for their misdeeds.
It also said that all leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliated organizations have been instructed not to maintain any kind of political relationship with them.
In this regard, Upazila BNP President Md. Jahangir Alam Rubel said that they had been involved in various misdeeds for a long time by tarnishing the name of BNP. Later, based on clear allegations, they were ordered to refrain from political activities with party leaders and activists. They were not party members, but supporters.
