Sylhet Bureau:- Shahparan Police have arrested Mamun Ahmed alias Mamun Chowdhury alias Chechra Mamun (30), an accused in the case of attack on the anti-discrimination student movement, Jubo League cadre, and the so-called Adhikuni TV YouTube channel. The arrest was made on Friday (February 28) evening.
The arrested Mamun is the son of the deceased Formuz Ali of Zingabari Dalimati area of Kanaighat police station in Sylhet. He currently lives at Basanang-10, Road No. 2, Nipaban residential area under Shahparan police station.
Earlier on Friday afternoon, Mamun was seen standing and talking to Kotwali Model Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ziaul Haque.
It is learned that on January 9 of this year, on the charge of attacking the anti-discrimination student movement, Sylhet District Jubo Dal's religious affairs secretary and Md. Namor Ali's son Sajib Ahmed of Mirzapur village of Moglabazar police station filed a case in the court naming 477 people as accused. On the orders of the court, the case was recorded on February 3 at the Kotwali police station in Sylhet city. Chhechra Mamun was mentioned as the 27th accused in the case. Case No. 68/25.
Meanwhile, a source confirmed that after Mamun's arrest, his accomplice, Mujibur Rahman Dalim, an alleged journalist and Jatiya Party leader, is continuing to lobby to have Mamun released from the police station.
In this regard, Shahparan Police Station Officer-in-Charge Monin Hossain said that Mamun has been detained for questioning. There is a complaint against him at Shahparan Police Station. He said that he is an accused of Kotwali Model Police Station. He said that he will discuss with the higher authorities and take legal action.
Private conversation with OC:- Ziaul Haque, the officer-in-charge (OC) of Sylhet's Kotwali Model Police Station, was seen in a private conversation with the accused who had an arrest warrant.
The secret conversation took place during a function of the Sylhet Society at the Sylhet Registry Ground on Friday (February 28). Shahparan Police arrested him a few hours later.

It is learned that the Sylhet Metropolitan Police Commissioner was supposed to attend the event as a guest. At that time, OC Ziaul Haque was waiting for the Police Commissioner to reach the meeting place. In the meantime, the absconding accused Mamun went to him and started talking to him. It is learned that since becoming an accused, Mamun has been using various strategies to escape the case. And he is taking that opportunity. A source said that he has already offered a large sum of money to the investigating officer to remove his name from the charge sheet of the case.
