Lalmohammad Kibria: Regular market monitoring is being carried out in Sherpur to stabilize commodity prices and prevent hoarding during the holy month of Ramadan. As part of this, a mobile court operation was conducted at the fruit stalls in Nabinagar Raw Market and Raghunath Bazar areas of the city on Friday (February 28) morning. During the operation, two fruit traders were fined Tk 5,000 and Tk 10,000 respectively under the Agricultural Marketing Act of 2018.
The drive was led by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Mohammad Rajib ul Ahsan, an officer of the District Market Monitoring Team.
The mobile court was conducted by Assistant Commissioner and learned Executive Magistrate of the Deputy Commissioner's Office Asma Begum. She was accompanied by the monitoring team members, Assistant Commissioner and learned Executive Magistrate of the Collectorate Rajib Sarkar, General Secretary of the CAB Sherpur District Committee Hakim Babul and Agricultural Marketing Officer Fatema Khatun. During this time, a police team led by SI Chamiul, an officer of the market department of the Sherpur Municipality, and support staff of the Collectorate GM branch provided overall support to the market monitoring team.
During the monitoring, in addition to fining two fruit traders in the Raghunath Bazar area for violating the law, market prices, licenses, sales price lists, purchase receipts, and cleanliness were monitored at various beef and veal, poultry and poultry meat vendors, consumer goods and raw food markets, and other fruit shops and businesses.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Mohammad Rajib Ul Ahsan, an officer of the District Market Monitoring Team, said that to keep the prices of daily necessities and various types of food items stable during Ramadan, market monitoring campaigns will be conducted daily throughout the month of Ramadan and mobile courts will be operated.
