Md. Abdul Quddus,
Shahjadpur (Sirajganj) Correspondent:
A housewife named Lipi Khatun (35) committed suicide by hanging herself after a fight with her in-laws. The in-laws have been absconding since the incident.
The incident took place on Thursday (February 27) afternoon in Betkandi Mara Kandai village of Shahjadpur upazila of Sirajganj. Lipi Khatun is the wife of Nuruzzaman Mondal, a van driver from that village. She is the mother of a son named Ripon (10).
Neighbors say that Lipi Khatun's husband and brothers-in-law are a total of 5 brothers. They all live in the same house. Almost every day, her in-laws and other members of the house used to quarrel with Lipi Khatun.
On Thursday at 11 am, Lipi Khatun's father-in-law Akkas Mandal got into an argument with her, as usual, and abused her. Unable to bear the situation, Lipi Khatun went home at around 1 pm, locked the door, and hanged herself.
At 3 pm, her son came to the house and knocked on the door, but Lipi Khatun did not open the door. When he peeked through the window, the son saw his mother's body hanging from the eaves of the house. Hearing her screams, other members of the house went ahead, broke down the door and took out Lipi Khatun's body.
Upon receiving the information, a police team led by Shahjadpur Police Station Sub-Inspector Zahid Hasan reached the spot in the afternoon. Later, Shajadpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Aslam Ali inspected the spot.
In this regard, Shahjadpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Aslam Ali admitted the truth of the incident and said, "A police team was sent to the spot after receiving the information in the afternoon, and later I also visited the spot. The body has been recovered and brought to the police station. The body will be handed over to the family after the autopsy at Mansur Ali Medical College Hospital."
