Facebook's parent company Meta has fired 20 employees for leaking confidential information to the media.
A Meta spokesperson confirmed the information, which was first reported by The Verge on Thursday (February 27), according to NDTV.
A Meta spokesperson said, "Employees are required to adhere to certain policies when joining the company. These are periodically reminded. Employees know that leaking internal information is against policy, regardless of the purpose."
He added, "We recently conducted an investigation. 20 employees have been fired for leaking confidential information outside the company. More may be fired in the future."
He added, "We are taking this investigation seriously. We will continue to take action when we identify the source of the leak."
The report said that Meta recently held a meeting with its employees and CEO Mark Zuckerberg. After this, various reports were published. After such an incident, Meta has fired 20 employees on charges of leaking confidential information.
Zuckerberg told employees in a meeting that he wouldn't share any more information. We try to be really open. Then everything we say gets leaked. It's annoying.
Tech leaders, including Zuckerberg, have been close to Trump since his election victory in November. Meta said they would be a productive partner with the White House.
