Sadrul Ain:
Film actor and founding chairman of Nirapat Sarak Chai, Ilias Kanchan, has demanded the resignation of the interim government's Home Affairs Advisor Jahangir Alam Chowdhury for his failure to address the serious deterioration in the law and order situation in the country.
He said that an advisor who is not capable of handling the law and order situation has been appointed. He should be removed and a competent person should be appointed in his place.
"The people of the country now have the opportunity to speak, but no one is listening. There is no value in speaking," he also commented.
He made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a seminar titled 'Public Grievances and Local Government Division' organized by Ganashakti Sabha at the National Press Club on Friday (February 28).
Elias Kanchan said, "The current situation in the country cannot be understood by sitting at home. People are unable to leave their homes due to the lack of law and order."
He said, "The great achievements we have made after 16 years are fading away. Some places are not working properly. Only the economy has improved a little, but there has been no improvement in other places."
He said, "Now there is hope. It is not possible that through this government there will be a good election, fascism will end, a good state will be created, and the hopes and aspirations of the people will be reflected."
He said, "If there is no law and order in the country, how can there be fair elections? It won't be possible with this advisor. There has been no police reform in the last six months. New parties have come, fights and disputes between them are going on all over the country. We are heading towards more disasters."
Elias Kanchan further said, "The reforms that the countrymen want have not happened. Rather, they are just a sham."
At that time, he told the interim government, "Listen to the people. Run the state that way."
